    European Patent Attorney

    The Opportunity
You have the opportunity to join a top tier patent and trade mark firm, which has grown considerable, in recent years – offices located Europe-wide including Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, London, Milan, Madrid, and Amsterdam.

The client instructions within the Benelux office continue to increase, with more direct instructions from clients within physics, electronics, and mechanic-based industries. To support this growth, there is now the opportunity to recruit a qualified European Patent Attorney to join the Amsterdam team – be that on-site or working remotely.

    The Role
In the formative months of joining the firm, you will embed yourself into the Dutch team and introduce yourself to your colleagues across the other offices of the firm – like all attorneys at Hoffmann Eitle, you will receive support and guidance in your professional development. You will be allocated a portfolio of clients from the Benelux market and you will get to work with a breadth of technologies and industries across the full scope of patent activities. In parallel to case management, you will be involved in the Dutch growth plans, helping to expand the client base, the portfolios, and the team by networking with potential clients, attending seminars and conferences, and raising the profile and visibility of the Dutch business.

    Professional Qualities
A degree in physics, electronics, mechanics, or related technologies.
European Patent Attorney with at least five years of experience.
If coming from private practice, you will have had experience of working with direct clients, managing the full patent life cycle. If you come from industry, this background would also be welcome because of the understanding you bring to the clients who face similar commercial challenges, which you will have experienced.
Have good commercial acumen to understand the business implications of using IP.
Be proactive in nature, and not afraid to take a position on a particular IP recommendation.
This is a pro-active role requiring a high level of professionalism, where you will be expected to demonstrate your worth and calibre. The position offers an outstanding opportunity to establish oneself in a thriving practice where progression is actively encouraged and leadership opportunities are attainable.
