    MWA Joins IP4ET

The IP profession has a vital role to play in the global transition to cleaner technologies; but change doesn’t happen on its own. That’s why MWA is proud to support IP4ET (Intellectual Property for Energy Transition), a new community helping the IP world take practical action toward decarbonisation and sustainable innovation.

    A Community for Change

Founded by Simone Frattasi (Maersk) and Fabrice Mattei (Rouse), IP4ET brings together organisations from every part of the IP ecosystem to explore how the industry can actively reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

    Its vision is clear:

    • Raise awareness of climate-related challenges across the IP community,
    • Lower GHG emissions throughout the IP supply chain,
    • Support the shift to technologies that drive decarbonisation.

    Guiding Principles for Sustainable IP

At the heart of IP4ET is a commitment to developing best practices that integrate sustainability into IP work. These principles aim to align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, helping members explore ways to measure, reduce, and offset emissions while influencing positive change across the profession.

    Driving Practical Impact

IP4ET is not just about ideas; it’s about action. Members meet to share strategies, develop tools, and tackle real questions such as:

    • How can IP practices calculate and report their carbon footprint?
    • How can patent strategy and licensing accelerate the energy transition?
    • How can the benefits of AI be balanced against its environmental cost?

    Collective Responsibility

By bringing together leading names in the industry, and now MWA, IP4ET is creating a shared platform for progress.

At MWA, we believe collaboration is key to meaningful change. Through our partnership with IP4ET, we’re proud to support a movement that aims to make the IP profession a force for sustainability. We encourage all of our clients and contacts to consider joining the IP4ET community – membership is free and open to anyone committed to making a positive impact!
