Exploring Succession Planning in IP: Join The Conversation
When traditional succession planning falls short, how can IP leaders prepare the next generation?
We recently came across this HBR article investigating record-breaking levels of C-suite turnover in the US. With larger amounts of executives than ever leaving their positions, succession plans are coming increasingly under pressure – forcing more external hires and continued disruption.
In our work within IP, we pay keen attention to the trends we see in the talent market: this includes peaks and troughs in hiring, gaps in specialist areas, and firms trying to balance future leadership needs with today’s workload. We know that for IP leaders, succession planning isn’t a straightforward process.
In light of this research, we want to dig deeper into how this research translates into the European patent profession. Over the next few months, we’ll be speaking with IP leaders to hear how they’re tackling succession planning in practice.
What’s working, what isn’t, and what lessons can be shared?
We’ll pull this together and share the results later this year. If you’d like to be part of the conversation (and add your perspective), get in touch at info@mwaip.com – we would love to include your voice.
