The Role

  • You will be part of the global IP Group and located in Shanghai, China, where you will have complete autonomy with the full spectrum of trademark matters.
  • You will be on site with the key business stakeholders, and you will have a significant role in advising commercial, marketing, product development and legal departments on business-relevant IP issues.
  • You will be embedded in the Legal Group with daily and weekly communication with your IP colleagues located across the globe.
  • You will report to the Director IP, who reports directly to the General Counsel, a member of the Executive Committee of AkzoNobel. This further reinforces the importance of the IP provision within the organisation.
  • You will be in a senior position responsible for coordinating all matters of IP across Asia but predominantly China.
  • You will engage with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders within China, becoming a key point of contact for clients, agencies and associations regionally.

Professional Qualities

Academically, you will have a degree in law, preferably with IP specialisation. You will have a minimum of eight years’ experience as an in-house IP Counsel or in private practice and because of this, you will have extensive knowledge and experience with protection of trademarks and brands as well as settling IP disputes.

You will be working for all AkzoNobel business in Asia, predominantly in China, and you will be providing strategic high-level advice to senior leaders to successfully develop business strategies.
