Partner Designate – Chemistry

The Opportunity

Nordic Patent Service is an international private practice which advises some of the most successful companies across the globe. Established in 2002, the firm has grown over the last eighteen years and now employs thirteen high calibre professionals.

Nordic Patent Service sets itself apart from many of its regional competitors, providing its multinational team of attorneys with a highly revered direct client base – many of whom are regularly visited, engaging with inventors, heads of research, in-house attorneys, and commercial leaders. Success begets success, and accordingly, the partnership is looking to recruit a like-minded attorney to join their team – either as a Partner Designate or as a lateral Partner hire.

The Role

  1. You will be responsible for taking on a full portfolio of clients within the chemical, process engineering and life science sectors, assimilating their IP needs and commercial objectives and providing the full scope of patent services.
  2. You will take on the role of mentoring and training the junior attorneys of the firm. This will represent a smaller part to your duties but, by definition, you need to demonstrate an inclusive and supportive attitude as they work towards sitting their EQE.
  3. You will also be part of the inner-circle of the practice, and you will be expected to contribute to the strategic decisions impacting the growth and direction of the firm. You will be on a fast track towards becoming an Equity Partner of the firm. This is the expectation of the practice, hence Nordic Patent Service is interested in ambitious and team-orientated individuals to bring their professional knowledge, energy and passion for IP, to the firm.

Professional Qualities

With an academic background in chemistry, you will have the necessary broad base of technical knowledge to manage a range of clients within chemistry and to a lesser extent, biotechnology. Ideally, qualified as a European Patent Attorney, you will come to the role with at least five years of experience working in a private practice IP firm.
