Your primary role is talent, competence and resource management, ensuring the function performs at its best. You need to develop a ‘functional powerhouse’ with highly capable resources and align the IP strategy to that of the business.
You will be a senior sponsor for IP, raising the awareness across the organisation at management and Board level. You will provide leadership and support of your other colleagues and you will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with a multitude of stakeholders. Besides managing the department, you will also roll up your sleeves and take on a portfolio of cases, ranging in complexity. You will work on an increasing number of opposition and appeal cases and work with many partners in the pharmaceutical industry.
In summary, you join a company which operates a flat structure and where everyone is motivated towards the same goal – helping the patient survive cancer. The company continues to grow and be successful and things evolve rapidly. You need to be comfortable with this type of environment, where change is the norm.
